About us

The Oyster Singers is a community choir based in Whitstable. We are a mixed choir of approximately 50 people, singing mostly in four part harmony. We sing a wide variety of music from pop, rock, and soul to traditional.

We have a lot of fun, plenty of laughs and much enjoy our Monday rehearsals and thrice yearly concerts, along with our other engagements, in particular the many occasions when we visit retirement homes to sing to and with the residents.

The choir formed in 2003 with the name "The Lindley Singers". Since that time we have performed many concerts, raising money for charities and supporting local organisations. Our passion for music led us to the finals of the Top Choir Kent competition in April 2011, and later the same year we sang with Blake at the Gulbenkian in Canterbury.

Since 2013 we have been working with Victoria Rowcroft as our MD, and the choir has gone from strength to strength. We are exploring new musical styles as well as revisiting some old favourites.
